What did we achieved in 2018-2019?

Last year the school council focused their ideas on creating a project that brought the community of Billericay schools together and promoting a special message - 'The Future is Bright'. Along with the other schools in Billericay, the council created an ideal vision of what a bright future meant and selected artists within the school to work with a local artist to bring their ideas to life. This resulted in an extremely successful art gallery in St Mary Magdalen's Church on Billericay High Street that was open to the public over the Easter holidays.
We also mingled with Chelmsford's finest and, after a wonderful visit by the Mayor of Chelmsford to Downham, the council were invited for tea at the Mayor's Parlour to learn about the history of politics in Chelmsford.
We raised a great deal of money for Children in Need with a Bring and Buy Sale that was so successful that we sold out of stock quite quickly.

What do we aim to achieve in 2019-2020?

This year we are really looking forward to continuing to build the community links, understand politics further and raise money for charities. We also want to focus on changes that we can make in school to make Downham an even better school for everyone.
