Prospective Families

Inspiring All to Soar to New Heights

The time is approaching where you will start to embark on the primary school journey for your child. We recognise that this is a very important decision and that you choose the school that feels right for you and your family.

Choosing to join Downham Church of England Primary School will be an opportunity to be a part of the special and exciting next chapter of our school's history!

Why choose us?

We offer a small, family-feel community school where everyone gets to know each other very well.

It is essential for us that we create an environment of emotional  warmth, with consistent praise and encouragement, so that each child feels individually valued, motivated, safe, secure and therefore confident, to meet new challenges and reach our high expectations with a sense of achievement and pride.

We aim to ignite a life-long love of learning within the EYFS, and promote the social, emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual development of each child.

Teaching and learning opportunities are based around the individual interests and fascinations of the child, alongside stimulating and challenging adult-led curriculum sessions. Provision is tailored in a way which promotes enthusiasm, independence and autonomy.

Our Curriculum Vision

Inspiring All to Soar to New Heights

At Downham C of E Primary School, our vision—Inspiring All to Soar to New Heights—is at the heart of everything we do. We lead and deliver a challenging and creative curriculum that inspires critical thinking, encourages collaboration, and nurtures the courage to take risks and explore new ideas.

Rooted in our Christian values, our curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity, foster a love of learning, and equip every child with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to flourish. We believe all children should be empowered to reach their full potential—academically, socially, and spiritually.

Through meaningful and engaging experiences, we help children become thoughtful, resilient, and independent learners, ready to make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.
