Attendance Matters
Why it is important to attend school regularly?
At Downham C of E Primary School, we believe every day counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in a pupil's success: academically, socially and emotionally.
1. Learning and Achievement
- Missing lessons means missing new skills, ideas and practice.
- Even a few absences can cause gaps that are difficult to catch up on.
- Pupils who attend school regularly are more likely to perform better on tests and assignments.
2. Building Good Habits
- Coming to school on time every day helps pupils develop responsibility, time management and self-discipline - skills they'll use for life.
3. Staying Connected
- School is not only about academic succcess - it's also where pupils build friendships, work in teams and feel part of a community.
- Being present helps them stay engaged and supported by teachers and peers.
Working Together
We understand that illness or emergencies may sometimes keep a pupil at home. When that happens, please contact the school as soon as possible. By working together - school, pupils and families - we can make sure every child gets the best chance to learn, grow and succeed.
From the first day of term to the last, the small moments in a school day make a real difference to your child.
Miss Bailey is our Senior Attendance Champion. If you have any concerns or need any support, please do not hesitate to contact her via the School Office.
