Christian Distinctiveness

The school aims to preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England.  Downham Church of England Primary School aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.  It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.

Rooted in the love of Christ, we celebrate every child as a unique creation of God, full of potential and purpose. Our school community is a place where faith, learning, and character grow together. We aim to equip children to soar – spiritually, academically and personally – by embracing our 5Cs:

Courage – to step forward bravely in faith and learning

Creativity – to express God-given gifts in new and meaningful ways

Critical Thinking – to explore, question, and seek wisdom

Collaboration – to grow together in unity and service

Challenge – to persevere and strive for excellence

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles:

They will run and not grow weary,

They will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

Inspired by this promise, we nurture a school community where everyone can flourish, face challenges with confidence, and rise to the future with hope.
